Omeda Studios is launching an open beta for Predecessor in an attempt to create some elbow room alongside League of Legends and DOTA 2 in the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre.
The free-to-play MOBA debuts in open beta on March 28.
Founded by Robbie Singh, Omeda picked up the remnants of the Paragon MOBA after Epic Games decided to drop it. From those ruins, Omeda created Predecessor.
Following a successful closed beta period, Predecessor is set to debut on Thursday, March 28, inviting players on PC, Xbox Series X|S/One, and PlayStation 4/5 to experience its fast-paced action and strategic gameplay. The game will be available for free on Steam, Epic Games Store, and respective console stores.

We’re thrilled to open our call for speakers to our flagship event, GamesBeat Summit 2024 hosted in Los Angeles, where we will explore the theme of “Resilience and Adaption”.
Predecessor emerged Paragon, a MOBA that met its end in 2018. Singh, a dedicated Paragon player and content creator, founded Omeda Studios in 2020 to breathe new life into the MOBA genre with Predecessor. The game has already gained traction with over 400,000 players participating in Steam Early Access and a closed beta on PlayStation.
In the open beta, two teams of five players will engage in intense battles, choosing from a diverse roster of more than 30 unique heroes. The objective is to protect their bases while collaboratively attacking the enemy team’s base. Players earn XP during battles to unlock and level up abilities, with the added element of collecting gold to purchase items for a competitive advantage.
Predecessor distinguishes itself by combining MOBA core elements with third-person shooter/brawler mechanics, providing players with a visceral experience while emphasizing teamwork and strategy. The game is a visual marvel, being the only MOBA developed in Unreal Engine 5, ensuring high-resolution and high-fidelity graphics for both current and previous-generation consoles.
